CELSA Nervacero chose Russula for the upgrade of its 800,000 tpy 2 strand bar mill that produces rebar, smooth bar and rebar in coil, in order to update the legacy control systems and network. The project scope includes the upgrade of the control system, drives and network for the roughing mill, intermediate mill, and high speed bar mill outlet, cooling bed and bundling area.
Multiple hardware platforms and customized software will be integrated together. The complete process control system will be substituted with state of the art control architecture and network communications. Existing operator desks, communication cabinets, remote IOs and drives will be reutilized and integrated into the new network to minimize project expense.
The revamp will be carried out in two phases during planned maintenance shutdowns to minimize the negative effects to plant production. Commmissioning activities will begin in August during the summer shutdown.
