In December of 2017, Russula was awarded a contract to supply a water treatment plant to treat the chemicals of a new continuous galvanizing line for ultra-high-strength steel strip in North America.
The Russula water solution incorporated whole stages of the water cycle: raw water pretreatment, process water and effluents recycling. Water recovery and reuse is part of a steel producers’ commitment to implement the best practices that protect the environment. The waste water system from its current operations uses ultra-filtration and reverse osmosis equipment to recover and reuse up to 80% of two waste streams generated by the other processing lines. The new Russula water treatment plant also employed this equipment to meet the environmental objectives, exceed compliance obligations and promote the conservation of natural resources.
The commissioning of the water treatment plant occured in October, 2019.
