In the final stretch of his master's degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Vigo, David Villanueva decided to do his master's thesis with Russula. "Out of all the pitches, Russula’s presentation was the one that interested me the most. I really liked the team and the project,” he says.
“It's a project to investigate how we could incorporate drones to help with the rolling process. The idea is to replace personnel who are on the ground, exposed to the dangers that this process entails, with autonomous vehicles that can carry the tools that operators would normally use. This way, we can prevent workers from approaching the mill and being exposed to those dangers,” explains Miguel Alonso, the project tutor and Customer Service and Support Director at Russula.
In the last months of his master's degree, David moved to A Coruña, where the company’s headquarters are located, and started working with different departments at Russula in an international and multicultural environment. "Throughout these months, we held regular meetings with the different areas and countries where Russula operates, so that everyone could see how the project was developing," David explains.
After months of hard work, tests, calculations, and meetings, David presented his project, completed his master's degree at the University of Vigo, and joined Russula's Automation Department. "What I would like to do now is to learn from the different areas and the people who work here. There are many people who... know a lot and I whom I admire and I’m eager to learn from their expertise", he says.
