Gerdau specialized steel plant located in Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo, Brazil has awarded Russula a contract to automate the cooling bed control. Manual temperature control will be substituted with an advanced automation solution.
The new cooling bed control system includes Level 1 software functions to automate the speed according to the cooling curve for each product to guarantee uniform air cooling. Together with new touch screen HMI monitors, enhanced by the maintenance and engineering tools of PLC and HMI applications for historical and real-time analysis, the advanced automation solution will improve plant safety and product quality.
The new drives and PLC will be assembled in cabinets in the Russula electrical workshop in A Coruña, Spain, where the factory acceptance test will take place. Commissioning is scheduled for two months later. This new order follows the iba productivity improvement projects by Russula for Rolling Mill #3 special steel bar and wire rod mill, highlighting the ongoing trust that the Gerdau Pindamonhangaba plant has with Russula automation technology.
