The ArcelorMittal Acindar and Russula team performed an electrical hardware upgrade on both mills at the Villa Constitución site in Argentina. The goal of the upgrade was to replace obsolete equipment with first-line control and hardware that improves production performance.
New drives were supplied for the bar and wire rod mills. The wire rod will undergo a complete automation and electrical revamp, implemented in two phases. Electrical engineering, integration of the drives into the existing control system, supervision installation and production support were also included within the scope of supply.
Commissioning for the switchover to the new bar mill drives and the first phase of the wire rod mill upgrade was performed during a maintenance shutdown in January 2020. The Russula team was on-site to ensure that the two mills successfully returned to production as scheduled.
The core partnership between ArcelorMittal Acindar and Russula began more than twenty-five years ago. Leveraging Russula’s unparalleled know-how in new automation installations, integrating new equipment with existing, minimizing plant shutdown time through pre-assembling and offline testing, all have contributed to keeping the Acindar plants up to date with the latest technological advances.
